CSI Hires New Chief Operating Officer
Michael Abbatiello of Falmouth has been hired as chief operating officer at Counseling Services, Inc., a local community mental health agency. In this senior leadership position Abbatiello will be responsible for overseeing all of CSI’s financial operations, as well as the agency’s administrative services and information services.
Abbatiello has many years’ experience as a healthcare executive, working in both finance and operations. He was most recently senior vice president of operations at Sweetser. Before that he was Sweetser’s senior director of finance and chief financial officer. Abbatiello ran his own healthcare consulting firm assisting hospitals, health systems and physician groups, and served as director of finance at two hospitals in New York.
Abbatiello is a licensed CPA who earned an undergraduate degree in accounting at Long Island University and a master’s degree in public policy and organizational management from the University of Southern Maine’s Muskie School of Public Policy. He has taught finance and public policy courses at USM and has done research at the Muskie School.
“This is a big job with a wide range of high-level responsibilities,” said Jeannine Lepitre, CSI’s chief executive officer. “We needed a special person to fill this job, and we found that person in Mike. He brings a wealth of healthcare management experience and knowledge to CSI, and I know he will be a great asset to us.”
CSI has served York County’s community mental health needs for nearly 50 years. Today the agency annually serves more than 7,000 children and adults at its four clinical locations in Biddeford, Springvale, Westbrook and Kittery. CSI features York County’s only 24/7 crisis response service.
